How the savings goal calculator works

We take the amount you still need (your goal minus what you have saved) and spread it across the months until your target date. If you add an interest rate, we include monthly compound growth, so the amount you need to save each month is a little lower.

Make your savings goal easier to reach

Automate it: set up a transfer for the day after payday so the money moves before you can spend it.

Give each goal its own pot (a "sinking fund"), so your holiday money never gets mixed up with your emergency fund.

Short on time? Moving the date out even a few months can make the monthly amount much friendlier.

Questions

What interest rate should I use?

Use the rate your savings account pays (the APY). If you're not sure, leave it at 0 for a simple, safe estimate.
